In Spring 2011, requirements gathering for a new Key Management module began by the Facilities Information System team; the project work group sessions included attendance and extensive input from numerous campus departments especially those that manage keys. The development was completed in house and went into testing phase Winter 2011. By Spring 2012, the Lock Shop began its live pilot phase with the opening of the new EPIC building using the new electronic key request pocess in ARCHIBUS Web Central. The new electronic key request process enables Key Requests to be submitted, approved and processed electronically via ARCHIBUS, a process that is very similar to the current work request submission process that decreases the paper process.
Most organizational units are now submitting key requests electronically; however, the discontinuation of the paper format was January 1st, 2013. The Lock Shop will longer process paper key requests forms.
