Building Automations references to the control systems within a building which is the computerized, intelligent network of electronic devices, designed to monitor and control the mechanical and lighting systems within the building.

BAS core functionality keeps the building climate within a specified range, provides lighting based on an occupancy schedule, and monitors the system performance and device failures in additon to providing email and/or text notifications to building operations staff on alarm activations and issues. Building Automation Systems personnel work to reduce building energy and maintenance costs within the building in comparison to a non-controlled building. The goal with BAS is to leverage technology to create an Intelligent Building System environment.
 

Building Automation meetings are conducted monthly (or as needed) internally and with contractors to review and discuss current projects and status.

During the internal meetings, standards on roles, responsibilities, security and access levels for all contractor and FM personnel will be defined and documented. In addition an ongoing inventory of BAS equipment will be conducted and documented according to established processes and standards.
