Beginning Jan 2010, FIS and Archibus will coodinate and schedule group sessions, site visits and teleconferences between Penbay, Archibus and UNC Charlotte to discuss implementation of GIS software. During all sessions, the goal will focus on planning how to implement GIS ESRI into the current campus Infrastructure.
Advantages of GIS Implementation for UNC Charlotte
Real estate, facility management, and infrastructure data will be combined with geospatial information to provide a visual representations that improve analysis for competitive advantage.
ad hoc, simultaneous queries on both interior and exterior data may be performed to provide a visualization of campus assets allowing streamlining of workflow processes.
The implementation of mapping and geospatial information (GIS) will allow merging of database information on campus maps providing efficient management of infrastructure and physical assets thereby improving organizational collaboration and decision-making for strategic and master planning decisions.
To begin the process for implementation, an site visit will be conducted by Penbay within the first week of January. The plan is for Penbay will conduct an on-site visit for three days to assess the current situation, setup the ESRI server and implement the Extension to provide a visual of the UNC Charlotte buildings. A plan will then be established for futher Penbay's assistance.
Debriefing meetings will occur at the end of each day between Penbay, AOS and UNC Charlotte to follow up on the current progress and progress and establish the following day's tasks.
