As our university continues to grow, promoting our recycling program is vital to its growth. Therefore we have events and programs throughout the year. Our biggest event, Earth Day, is held every April at the CHHS Plaza. Our office brings in outside vendors and allows them to showcase their products and services to the general public. We had our first Earth Day event in 1992 and it continues to grow! If you are interested in participating, please feel free to contact us.
One of our fall events is Campus Sustainability Week. It is held in October and focuses on getting the word out about environmental sustainability on campus.
Bi-Annual Campus Cleanup - Our Campus Cleanup is a huge success - We typically have over 200 volunteers and collect more than 1000 pounds of trash. This event is held every April and October.
The "Take it or Leave it" tour is designed to promote re-use on campus. The concept is that if you have material that is still in good condition that you don't want anymore, you can donate it to the recycling department. In turn, we bring those items around campus and give them away for free. It cuts down on waste leaving the campus and as they say, one person's trash is another persons treasure. Check back soon for our fall schedule.
We also offer the Adopt-A-Spot program. It is designed to offer campus groups an opportunity to volunteer on site. Much like Adopt-A-Highway, groups will be given an area on campus to help clean and maintain.
