What happens after collection

Once we collect the material, it is distributed to several locations on campus for pickup.  Glass, plastic, aluminum, newsblend paper (newspaper, brochures etc.) and chipboard (cereal boxes etc.) are taken to our 30 yard residence bin for pickup.  After being picked up, it will be hauled to the FCR recycling facility located about 10 miles away.  Cardboard is collected by our team and taken to cardboard bins located throughout campus. It is then hauled to a cardboard recycling facility.  Office paper is collected and taken to the loading dock of that building.  It is then collected by Maslo, who takes it for recycling.

The University receives money for the following:

  • Office Blend paper
  • Cardboard
  • Metal

The University saves money by not having to pay a "tipping fee" associated with dumping material at landfills.
