Students participate in the "Take it or Leave it Tour" on America Recycles Day
The tour is designed to reduce waste on campus as well as educate people about waste reduction, reuse and recycling. The department finds notebooks, binders, books, and many items that would otherwise be thrown away and gives them back to the UNCC population throughout the year. The tour is taken to the staff in the spring and the students in the fall. Please contact us for more info.

Students and staff participate in a waste audit at Moore Hall
It was a messy event at Moore Hall on Tuesday November 13th, but it was all about education. Students and staff participated in a waste audit to find out just how much of the material in their trash could be recycled. The findings were astounding. After collecting one day's trash from the residence hall, it weighed in at a healthy 237 pounds. After pulling the plastic bottles, aluminum, glass, cardboard and other re-useable's, the trash pile was reduced to 128 pounds. That means 109 pounds of material could have been recycled. Nearly Half! It's easy, drop it in the bin. If you office or residence hall would like to participate in a waste audit to find out what's in your trash, please contact us.
