ROCK BLASTING FOR UTILITY INSTALLATION - Campus

What's Going On:
The blasting will occur UNDER the Phillips Road bridge over Toby Creek. The blasting will be in two consecutive phases. Timeframes are conservative and will be updated as we have more information:

Phase 1: October 14 - 30 - 1 shot per day between 3pm and 4pm.
Phase 2: November - March - 2 shots per day. 1 each between 8:30am and 9:30am and 3pm and 4pm.

When:
Tuesday, October 13, 2020 to Monday, March 15, 2021

What to Expect:
Prior to each blast, flaggers will stop greenway traffic at a safe distance from the bridge and an air horn will sound in warning. After the blast, another air horn will sound the all-clear.

Why:
Charlotte Water's utility construction projects are building a Toby Creek Sanitary Sewer relief line to provide additional system capacity as well as a Reclaimed Water trunk line that will allow UNC Charlotte to build a connecting distribution system and reduce our potable water use.
