Niners! It’s that time of year! Finals are done, summer is almost here, and you’re ready to head home. But, before you do, you’ve got to move out of your room. And, the Office of Waste Reduction and Recycling is here to make sure you move out right! Below are some tips and tricks to turn all your move out Garbage into 49er GOLD!
Move Out Donation Bins
Each residence hall has small move out bins located in a central location. You can donate any of the items listed below. These items get donated to Salvation Army and the Jamil Niner Student Pantry right here on campus. Make a difference in someone else’s life by donating your unwanted goods instead of throwing them away.
- Accessories (purses, bags, belts)
- Dishes & housewares
- Storage crates
- Other household items
- Non-perishable food items (unopened can goods, ramen noodles)
- Unopened, unused toiletries
Want to see where your donation bins are located? Select your residence hall: Belk, Greek Village, Hawthorn, Holshouser, Hunt, Laurel, Levine, Lynch, Martin, Miltimore, Oak / Pine / Elm / Maple, Sanford, Scott, Wallis, Witherspoon.
Have large items or furniture you no longer want? A team of Levine Scholars, called Refurnish 49ers, are here to help. They will be set up outside Scott Hall and in the Lynch Quad during finals week to collect the items below. All large items will be donated to Habitat for Humanity Restore.
- Chairs / tables
- Storage units
- Appliances (mini-fridges, microwaves, coffee makers)
