Beginning in late May, work will begin to replace the roofs on the following campus buildings (in alphabetical order): Barnard, the Counseling Center wing of Atkins Library, Fretwell, Garinger, King*, McMillan Greenhouse, the Steam Plant and Winningham.
All buildings will remain open during this time, and work is expected to be completed by mid-August. Building liaisons have been notified of this construction, and they have been invited to a meeting to discuss project details.
According to the Facilities Management Department, these roof replacements will yield several advantages for each building, such as additional insulation for increased energy efficiency; drainage improvements to prevent leaks, water damage, etc.; and deploying white PVC to reflect sunlight to help control temperatures.
Facilities management officials note that efforts will be made to keep any noise at a reasonable level, and they appreciate occupants’ patience during this time.
For questions during construction, contact the appropriate building liaison or Donia Schauble, senior project manager, facilities management, firstname.lastname@example.org or 704-687-0520.
